Looks like a wonderful venue but, please, what are tar attractions? PS. Your Blogger programme doesn't want to publish my comment!! Have tried 6 times!
Bonjour Georgy: I bet Mt Helix would make a good launching spot indeed, though it is surrounded by residential neighborhood and electric lines, the margin of error on launching or landing would be rather thin. :o) The amphitheater is really cool, though, and there are a few cool stairways hidden on the hillside. ;o)
Yup, graffiti and vandalism is like a plague here in San Diego. It's ridiculous how they can't seem to leave clean walls alone! :oP
Hiya Eyes: Ack! Thanks for catching that, matie. It's my computer keyboard still not working (the keys for W S X @ 2 s w x aren't registering at all, so I have to use the on-screen keyboard to type the characters out then copy and paste them to appropriate words as I try to type. It's a crazy frustrating process, but I have to put up with it at the moment since I can't afford to have the computer fixed yet).
Thanks for persisting in your attempts to comment, too! I think Blogger tinkers with its sometimes and commenting ability is usually what goes haywire when they do that. Hopefully all is well again now. :o(
Thank you both very much for stopping by! Hope your week is going well! :oD
I went there a few times growing up in San Diego/El Cajon. Best view in the county, I think.
I'm guessing that the park went private so they could keep the cross there? Seems like a creative solution. A government-run park shouldn't have a cross, but Mt. Helix without the cross just wouldn't be the same somehow.
It looks like a nice spot for family gatherings and also to get some cool air when it's scorching hot below. (looks much drier than our South here!) I've got the impression you participate in this project!
Hi Kuri: I think you're right about why Helix went private. I think a few churches around here are trying to team up to do the same with Mt. Soledad. :oP You know, even when I was a Christian I never got the obsession with the cross thingy. It's pretty morbid (but then there's the proxy cannibalism of Jesus in the communion/sacrament thingy, so that's consistent, at least)... but then I was an evangelical and they do the dove symbol rather than the cross. :o)
Hey Eyes: No worries, matie. I shoulda caught that typo, but then 'tar' is a legitimate word and doesn't get flagged by the spellchecker. :oP Thanks for keeping trying with the glitchy blogger comment editor!
Hiya Yvette: It is a great local spot indeed. A good exercise to walk to the top if you haven't got a car (no bus service up there). :o) I'm afraid I'm not involved in this project, though. It's a few neighborhoods to the east of me. If I live closer I would!
San Diego is very dry indeed, though the humidity level has risen quite a bit the last few years. We actually have clouds now most days. Back in the 90's the sky was cloud-free most of the time! :oD

Bonjour Smorgy,
A pleasure to look at that beautiful summit and listening to Vivaldi's music.
Should be a great paragliding lauching spot.
Sorry to hear they are obliged to install inaccessible cameras to discourage hooligans.
Georg

That was me, Eyes. Got through by being anonymous :)

It didn't occur to me to be a misprint!! I honestly thought that there could be TAR attractions. Dohh!
Blogger is tinkering again!
