Musing: Where Have All The Flowers Gone (or something like that)?

This shot was taken in spring, when the wild flowers were blooming all over town.

Those wild flowers are gone now, of course, though I wonder if the pavement still remembers the beautiful colorful little bee charmers that used to cast shadow on them early and late in the days.

Why would anyone want to live forever? It might be okay if one has really short memory and forgets everything soon enough that things always seem new and exciting. Somehow I doubt that that is part of the much longed for concept, though. People want to live long and remember everything. Something like a retentive slab of pavement. I suppose I'm odd in that I'd rather be the flighty wild flower. Long life is too boring for me.  Smiley

Welcome short life, Smorgy. Short life means you miss a lot of thrilling happenings like global overheating and the landing on Mars. And real 3D television.

Smorg, I wish you and yours a Merry Christmas and a joyful holiday season.

I hope you have attended or will attend some of the San Diego concerts you listed last month. Myself, I would have wanted to hear the Philharmonia Orchestra in the Mahler Ninth.

My New Year Wish for you: NO MORE DYING RAT ENCOUNTERS! One was quite enough, I would think.

Hallo Georgy: I have a feeling I would be thrilled to miss all that... well, maybe with the exception of Mars landing. :) I guess living long might not be as bad if one can somehow stay young and healthy doing it.

Hiya Drew: Thanks very much! I hope I won't run into anymore dying rat indeed. That was rather unsettling (I guess I'm not stuff hunters are made of). :P I'm planning on running into some good concerts and opera come January, though. Really looking forward to Viviane Hagner coming here to do Mendelssohn's E minor concerto in a couple of weeks. :D

Thanks so much for stopping by. Wishing you and Josh a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful 2013, too!
