Happy New Year (a bit late)

I'm afraid this past holiday season was rather hellish for yours truly, and really isn't something to talk about. I finally made it back home on Tuesday, though, and spent a lot of time since reacquainting myself with my own bed while trying to excise a nasty strand of virus and a whole lot of tracheal lining... and sort of scaring my roommate to death with the associated noises.

Anyhow, I think it's safe to say now that I'll probably live, since I've been able to spend more than an hour upright today and even found me a rather nice surprise on Youtube that I think fellow lovers of classical music and the fiddling ability of one Lisa Batiashvili would enjoy. Here it is!

Happy New Year, one and all. Look ahead and brave new world!

Happy new year, Smorg. I'm sorry you haven't been feeling well. Hope you're on the mend now!

Dear Smorgy, this virus appears to ne 'international' ... and it takes a long time to get over! I had to cancel my first concert at the Philarmonie and lots of New Year outings around here! still I do hope the fine weather in your shores will help you to feel fully alive very soon!
Did you get my lines about Vesselina K ? An and me would like to do something to have her sing a recital while she is in Paris for Rigoletto. You are the best one to ask for any kind of solution!
All the best to you and thanks so much for your friendship all these years..and many more to come! Y from Provence

Ooops! Sorry I missed the comment notifiers somehow, Knotty & Yvette. :o( Thanks very much for good wishes and for stopping by! :o)

I'm afraid I haven't caught up on things yet, Yvette. :o) Would love to give our lass more incentive to do a recital or two while she is in Paris indeed. In the meanwhile, though, you might find this quite a balm for the winter.

:oD If you click on the youtube poster, they have another video from the same event, too, with her mentoring a young Bulgarian singer at the Stara Zagora Opera.

Will get back to you and An about it, soon. Stay well, chere amie!

Hi Smorgy,

Best wishes for the remaining 9 1/2 months of this year.

Considering your love for the opera, you might appreciate this YT video. It is about some opera singers performing - unannounced - in an English primary school. A real treat.

Cheers Smorgy,
Georg

Hallo Georgy! Sorry it's been such a long time since our last visit. How are you? :o)

Thanks very much for the clip of operatic flash mob at the school cafe. It is quite cool and the kids seem to enjoy that a lot! I wish the SD Opera would do that sometimes. The symphony did a few months ago on the trolley cars and got pretty good responses.

I'm afraid I have been pretty negligent of the blogs lately. Have been traveling out of town a lot for work. So much to write about, so little time! I'm back in town for a few weeks, though, and am enjoying quite a fabulous outdoorsy weather. I think up next at the San Diego Opera is a run of Madama Butterfly. Hopefully I'll manage to attend a show before heading out of town again for another month. Whew!

I hope you and E are well and getting to go out and fly a lot (and fit in a few concerts while you are at it, too). :o) All the best from San Diego, CA!
